Induction Task - Evaluation
Our short film follows the classic Hollywood narrative - there is a beginning, middle, and an end - which runs in order. The narrative for our film overall is very straight forward. a 'boy meets girl' story. the story concludes with them sharing a kiss. During post production, we decided that the narrative would suit a comedic background better than a more serious one. We were looking through sound effects and adding music, then we found a short clip of music which would have helped with the comedic effect.
I feel as though the continuity within our short film is ok as a whole, but there are some small issues. Such as, the scene where J takes B's hand is ok, but then as the shot cuts to her hand running up his arm, there is a slight issue with the hand positioning. J's hand looks as if she isn't touching B's arm on the close up of her hand running up his arm, however on the previous shot, she has her hand wrapped around his arm fully. We could have thought deeper into this in the editing process to ensure that the film runs smoothly with clean cuts and clear shots.
There was another shot where it was slightly out of frame - the one where J walks towards B in the glass hallway. As she stops, the framing is slightly too far to the right, meaning that B and J weren't central to the shot. B's legs were marginally out of shot. This was due to using a steady cam to get the desired shot. This meant holding the camera lower than eyesight meaning it was difficult to see what was in frame and what wasn't. When we identified the mistake, we tried re-taking the shot multiple times because we didn't have previous experience with the equipment, we were unable to get the perfect shot.
